HARMONICAS!
The harmonica (harp, Mississippi saxophone) has long been one of the most important and versatile instruments in Blues music. It was cheap, and portable. Some of the earliest Blues harpists include largely unknowns Daddy Stovepipe, Stovepipe #1, Eddie Mapp and Rhythm Willie. Early Blues harmonica players who gained fame and had a big influence include Big Walter Horton, Sonny Boy Williamson I and Sonny Boy II.
Here are photos of some of the Blues harpists I have heard and enjoyed over the past 15 years.
