saw this guy (Flint Blade) playing this very different-looking and different-sounding guitar. Learned later that it is called a Chapman Stick, invented by jazz guitarist Emmett Chapman around 1970. From Wikipedia - " The Chapman Stick usually has ten or twelve individually tuned strings and has been used on music recordings to play bass lines, melody lines, chords, or textures. Designed as a fully polyphonic chordal instrument, it can also cover several of these musical parts simultaneously."
